Nepal is making strides toward embracing advanced technology in filmmaking through a pioneering event, the 10-Day Drone Camera Training and Operations Workshop. Organized by Drone Hub Nepal in collaboration with the Film Development Board and the Ministry of Information and Communications, the workshop highlights the country's growing interest in drone technology and its applications across various industries.
The event, held from December 21st to January 1st , 2025, brought together 25 aspiring cinematographers and professionals from diverse backgrounds. Participants learned technical skills, legal regulations, and advanced cinematographic techniques to integrate drones into professional filmmaking.
Drone Hub Nepal at the Helm
Drone Hub Nepal, led by Managing Director Prabin Bhattarai, played a pivotal role in curating the training program. With his extensive expertise in unmanned aerial systems, Bhattarai emphasized Nepal's potential to emerge as a hub for drone technology.
Expert Training Team
The workshop featured renowned professionals such as Captain Palden Sherpa of Prabhu Heli and legal advisor Prajwal Bhattarai, ensuring that participants gained both technical and legal expertise. Aeronautical engineers and experienced drone pilots also contributed to hands-on training sessions.
Film Development Board's Vision
Dinesh D.C., Executive Chairperson of the Film Development Board, inaugurated the workshop with a keynote address, highlighting the transformative role of drones in Nepal’s film industry. The Board envisions making the country a leader in creative aerial cinematography.
Hands-On Learning and Networking
Over ten days, attendees gained proficiency in drone operations through intensive field training near the Kathmandu Valley. Sessions covered everything from pre-flight checks to advanced filmmaking techniques like FPV flying. The program also fostered networking opportunities with industry leaders.
Closing Ceremony
The event concluded with a drone-delivered banner ceremony, symbolizing the successful integration of technology into Nepal's filmmaking sector. Certificates will be awarded from the Ministry of Information and Communications, Flim Development board president Dinesh DC, Drone Managing Director Prabin Bhattarai and others VIPs Guest. Date of Ceromony hasnt not be scheduled yet.
